Here you find answers to regularly asked questions by our clients about the venue, functions and applicable rules.

How many guests can Welgemeend accommodate?

Inside we can accommodate up to 80 guests seated Dinner Style or 120 Cocktail Style.

On our veranda we seat up to 60 guests and up to 100 Cocktail Style.

How much is the venue hire and what does it include?

Hire rates depend on room, hours and number of guests. Please find our rates in PDF format here

Venue hire includes:
• Tables
• Chairs
• Cutlery, Crockery, Glassware
• White linen
• DJ Table
• Cake Table
• Damask serviettes
• Use of the venue, garden and parking area

Our Wedding Package Deals include everything you need for your special Day.

Please note: Staff hours are not included in the venue hire fee. An extra charge is applicable for staff to set up for your function, service during the function, breakdown and cleaning after your function.

Until what what time can we stay in the evening?

Residential area rules apply.

Last rounds at bar 22h15.

Music off 22h30.

Venue to be cleared out by 23h00.

Can we bring in our own caterer?

Yes of course you can.

We do however charge a fee for the usage of our kitchen facilities.

Can we bring in our service providers for Music and Decor?

Yes, but we prefer that you use our in house service providers.

Should you use our decor service provider you don’t have to pay for additional set up and break down hours. If you use an outside provider for the decor there is a charge of R1000 per hour extra for set up and break down of the décor.

Do you allow tents?

In principle yes but please discuss with management.

Do you allow 21st Birthday parties?

Yes, if it is a daytime function, parents are present and no alcohol is served

No, if any alcohol is served and it is an evening dance party.

What is the history behind Welgemeend?

Welgemeend is one of the oldest Farmsteads in Cape Town and it started circa 1693.

It is an art gallery and heritage site.
